Web Design Critique: Novotel Phuket Vintage Park

Novotel Phuket Vintage Park is one of the leading hotels located in the beautiful island of Phuket, Thailand. The hotel provides amenities that a 4 star hotel in Phuket should including a spa, swimming pool, restaurants and bar and meeting rooms and event spaces. The hotel also offers in-house activities for guests who are willing to learn new things such as bartending and gastronomy, sport and wellness and discovery. Let us now move on to critiquing the website.

Loading time. The website loads quite fast despite all the images that can be found on the homepage. Aside from the header photo, there are a number of images found at the bottom including thumbnail images for links. The Guests Book at the bottom of the page shows images of guests that have stayed in the hotel before in real-time.

Uniqueness. I have critiqued many hotel websites before but what is remarkable about Novotel’s website is the Virtual Tour provided at the last part of the homepage. At first glance, it looks like a large image but you can actually drag your mouse around the move the image 360 degrees to see the entirety of the hotel from the outside. It is effective in giving guests a glimpse of what they should expect before their stay or it can convince them to stay if they haven’t confirmed their booking yet.

Content. It is often heard that content is king and in this case, the hotel has delivered because the homepage alones contains many information. These are information that guests would be interested to know about. They know not to crowd the page with texts but let the images speak for the accommodation. There is no specific page for the contact information but it is found at the right side of the homepage. The same information is also provided at the bottom of the page along with a Google Map of the hotel’s location.

Design and colour. The website is minimalistic and the colours are relaxing as it follows the company logo all clad in shade of blue. Since it is rated as a 4 star hotel in Phuket, it caters to many tourists from different parts of the world therefore the website can be translated to a number of languages for easier access.
